#6 Men's Lacrosse Rallies Past #10 Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa. -- Keyan McQueen had three goals and one assist, helping the sixth-ranked Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team rally past No. 10 Seton Hill for an 11-7 victory in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action on Saturday.

James Crowe, Colin Greenway and Derek Richards added two goals apiece for the Lakers (6-1, 3-0), who erased a 5-3 deficit with seven consecutive goals. Jarrett Cook and Greg Weyl also scored.

Assists were credited to Oran Horn, Michael Poe and Kurtis Woodland. Weyl and Poe finished with five and four groundballs, respectively, while Brandon May caused three turnovers. In the cage, winning goalie Matt Wells stopped six shots.

With the Lakers trailing 5-3, Richards beat the buzzer late in the first half to close Mercyhurst's deficit to one at halftime. The visitors then followed that up with six more tallies, leaving them with a 10-5 advantage midway through the fourth quarter.

Greenway and McQueen had two goals apiece during the game-deciding rally. McQueen had each of his four points in the second half.

Bennett Johnson was SHU's leading scorer with three goals and one assist. Brett Craig picked up six groundballs and Merritt Bailey totaled eight saves in net for the Griffins (3-3, 1-1).

Mercyhurst outshot Seton Hill, 34-25, and held a 24-19 edge in groundballs. The Griffins won the faceoff battle, 13-9.

The Lakers will take a 15-day hiatus from competition before meeting Wingate on Sunday, Apr. 9, for a 12 p.m. non-conference game in Ashland, Va.
