SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team will visit Slippery Rock on Wednesday for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference contest.
Mercyhurst (9-11, 7-9) is in fifth place in the PSAC West Division, having won two of its last three games. It trails Slippery Rock (12-11, 8-9) by a half-game in the conference standings. Wednesday's game will feature the top two defenses in the conference as Slippery Rock leads the league, allowing 62.2 points per game, while Mercyhurst gives up 66.0.
Slippery Rock leads the all-time series, 24-23, and has won the last four meetings. The Rock won earlier in the season at Mercyhurst, 49-46, on Jan. 3. SRU's Naquil Jones led all scorers with 21 points and eight rebounds. Khyree Wooten added 10 points.
Lorenzo Collier was the Lakers' leading scorer, finishing with 14 points, while
Durrell McDonald put in 13.
McDonald leads the MU offense with 13.7 points per game while Collier averages 11.7.
Dajuan Dent is the team's leading rebounder with 4.6 boards per game.
H'ian Hale leads the PSAC with 2.6 steals per game while averaging 4.1 assists.
The Rock's top two scorers are Naquil Jones (13.1) and Merdic Green (10.9). Christal Malalu ranks 10th in the conference with 6.8 rebounds per game.
The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. in the Morrow Fieldhouse.
