Derek Richards scored three goals as the fourth-ranked Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team rolled to a 20-3 victory over Davis and Elkins in the first-ever Great Midwest Athletic Conference game in league history on Sunday.

James Wittmeyer added two goals apiece for the Lakers (2-0, 1-0) who broke a 2-2 tie with 18 straight scores.
Evan Hollfelder was Mercyhurst's leading point-getter, finishing with one goal and four assists. Other single goal-scorers were

Dom Perna,
Austin Robare,
Ryan Vitale,
Kurtis Woodland and
Myles Young.
James Crowe had four assists while Young had two assists. Single assists were credited to McQueen, Plaskey, Richards and
Benjamin Brooks.
Matt Wells was the winning goaltender, recording four saves during the first half. Both
William Koester (four saves) and
Hunter Emerson (one save) saw relief time in the cage.
Davis and Elkins goals were scored by Kyle Durec, Matthew Dyck and Patrick Schneck.
The Lakers outshot D&E, 50-19, and held a 41-24 advantage in groundballs and 19-8 edge in faceoffs.
Mercyhurst will play next when it meets Mount Olive for a non-conference game on Saturday, Mar. 4, in Sparks, Md.
