Men's Ice Hockey Heads to Canisius College

The Matchup
  • The Mercyhurst men's ice hockey team will play in their last away game of the regular season at Canisius College on Thursday.
 
Weekend Recap
  • The Lakers took on Robert Morris and split the weekend with a 7-4 win at home and a 3-2 overtime loss at Robert Morris.
  • Derek Barach scored two goals and four points during the Lakers 7-4 win on Friday. He added another assist on Saturday.
 
Last Time Around
  • The Lakers headed to Buffalo, N.Y. back in late November and came home with a 5-1 win over the Golden Griffins.
  • During the game, Joey Duszak and James Anderson recorded their first collegiate goals.
 
Scouting Canisius
  • With an overall record of 18-10-7 and a conference record of 17-4-6 the Griffs are sitting in first place in the Atlantic Hockey standings with 40 points.
  • The Griffs are on a three game winning streak with a sweep of Niagara last weekend.
  • Leading the Griffs' roster is Dylan McLaughlin with 29 points. Ryan Schmelzer is close behind with 27 points and Nick Hutchison has 21 points.
  • Between the pipes is Charles Williams with a record of 18-6-5. He has earned a 1.90 goals against average and a .942 save percentage.
 
Laker Lineup
  • With a current overall record of 12-16-4 and a conference record of 11-11-4, the Lakers are tied for fifth in the Atlantic Hockey standings with 26 points.
 
Player of the Week
  • Barach was named Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week for his five-point performance against Robert Morris.
 
Next Up
  • The Lakers will host RIT for senior night on Saturday. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. after a brief senior ceremony.
