JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team dropped a 78-70 decision to Pittsburgh-Johnstown during Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Saturday.
Durrell McDonald led all scorers with 22 points while
Malcolm Walters scored 13 points,
Dajuan Dent had 11 and
John Majors finished with 10. Majors and Stephen Spurlock totaled six rebounds apiece while
H'ian Hale dished five assists for Mercyhurst (10-12, 8-10).
Dale Clancy had 20 points and six assists to lead Pittsburgh-Johnstown (15-10, 10-9). Jake Laravie added 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists while A.J. Leahey had 14 points and seven rebounds. Also, Isaac Vescovi scored 13 points and Josh Wise finished with 10 points.
UPJ led 37-35 at halftime and scored the first seven points of the second half before the visiting Lakers closed their deficit to one. Then, the Mountain Cats went on an 11-0 lead and held a comfortable lead the rest of the way. The Lakers pulled within six points, but that was as close as they got.
Mercyhurst will return to action on Wednesday when it hosts Seton Hill for a 7:30 p.m. PSAC contest.
