INDIANA, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team dropped a 67-56 decision to fifth-ranked Indiana (Pa.) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Wednesday.
Lorenzo Collier led the Lakers with 18 points while
Durrell McDonald had 13 points.
For host IUP, Devon Cottrell finished with 15 points while Dante Lombardi contributed 13.
After trailing by as many as six points in the second half, the visiting Lakers (8-11, 6-9) took the lead on a layup by
Malcolm Walters with 8:35 left in the contest. That gave MU a 47-45 edge before the Crimson Hawks went on a 16-0 run to take the lead for good.
Mercyhurst held an early lead, going up by as many as five, before a 10-2 IUP stretch helped the hosts to a 33-30 hafltime lead.
The Lakers went 20 of 48 from the field (41.7 percent) and 5 of 8 from beyond the arc (62.5) while IUP finished 25 of 47 from the field (53.2 percent) and 8 of 16 from three-point land (50.0). The Hawks held a 34-18 rebound advantage.
Mercyhurst will return to action on Saturday with it hosts Clarion for a 3 p.m. PSAC contest at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
