Men's Hoops Heads East For Visits To Kutztown, Mansfield

ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team will visit Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponents Kutztown and Mansfield on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The contests, which will tip off each day at 3 p.m., are PSAC crossover events.

The Lakers are coming off an 81-51 non-conference win over Roberts Wesleyan on Monday.  Malcolm Walters scored 18 points and Lorenzo Collier put in 17 for the Lakers, who used a 20-0 run to seize control in the first half. Patrick Smith added 14 points and nine rebounds while Derrick Ellis Jr. compiled 12 points, six assists and six steals.

Collier currently leads Mercyhurst with 15.4 points per game while Walters puts in 12.2. Smith is the leading rebounder with an average of 7.8 boards.

KUTZTOWN (4-1, 1-1)
The Bears have won two straight contests, including their last contest -- a 67-66 win over non-conference Jefferson.

Ethan Ridgway is KU's leading scorer with 22.0 points per game while Anthony Lee and Dan Cuevas put in 20.4 and 18.5 points, respectively. Moe Williams is the team's top rebounder with 8.8 per game.

Mercyhurst leads the all-time series against Kutztown, 5-2. The two teams did not meet in 2016-17, but faced off twice in 2015-16. Mercyhurst won the regular-season meeting at home that year, 71-70, but KU got revenge during the Atlantic Regional at Wheeling Jesuit, 79-73.

MANSFIELD (1-3, 1-1)
The Mountaineers lost their last contest at home against a common opponent of Mercyhurst. Mansfield fell in overtime to RWC, 86-80.

Malik Carter leads Mansfield with 21.8 points per game while Jeremiah Worthem averages a double-double of 18.0 points and 11.5 rebounds. Matt Tamanosky puts in 17.8 points per game and Cedrick Powell averages 4.0 assists.

Mercyhurst leads the all-time series against Mansfield, 11-8. The Lakers have won the last three meetings.
