Charbonneau Tallies Twice In Men's Ice Hockey Loss To RMU

ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's ice hockey team suffered a 5-3 loss to Robert Morris on Sunday at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
 
Jonathan Charbonneau scored two goals while Bryan Sienerth scored the other goal for Mercyhurst (7-9-2, 4-6-2). Zach Todd tallied three assists while Taylor Best and Joseph Duszak each had one assist.
 
Timmy Moore, Eric Israel, Luke Lynch, Alex Tonge and Michael Louria recorded goals for Robert Morris (7-11-1, 7-7-1).
 
Halfway through the first period, Charbonneau scored his first goal of the game to give Mercyhurst its only lead. Best and Todd tallied assists.
 
During the second period, Mercyhurst took a major penalty and Robert Morris converted on it twice. Moore scored with assists from Tonge and Brady Ferguson before Israel gave the Colonials the lead. Tonge also assisted the second goal.
 
During the third period, Lynch scored a short-handed goal to extend the Colonials lead to 3-1.
 
Thirty-two seconds later, Charbonneau picked up his second goal of the game, this time on the power play. Todd had the lone assist.
 
Tonge added a goal for Robert Morris at 12:49 with assists from Moore and Ferguson to make it 4-2.
 
Late in the third period, Sienerth capitalized on the power play to bring the Lakers back within one, but Louria scored to end the game 5-3. Duszak and Todd had assists on the Laker goal while Tonge and Ferguson picked up assists on the Colonial goal.
 
Colin DeAugustine ended the night with 23 saves for Mercyhurst while Francis Marotte stopped 22 out of 25 shots for Robert Morris.

The Lakers finished 2-for-4 on the power play while RMU was 3-for-5.
 
The Lakers are back in action on Dec. 29-30 at the MIC against RIT. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. both nights.
