CHEYNEY, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst volleyball team swept Cheyney, 3-0, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Friday, winning sets with scores of 25-10, 25-13, 25-14.
Tamryn Schwab led the Laker offense with 10 kills while
Larissa Cass put down seven kills.
Mary Marusza made 13 assists.
Mercyhurst took a 4-1 lead in the first set and never looked back from there. The Lakers (10-15, 5-9) began the following two sets with eight-point runs.
Beginning the second set, Schwab led an 8-0 charge with two kills, one assist and one ace.
To start the third, Marusza served for eight straight Mercyhurst points, collecting two assists. Schwab had three kills and one block during that stretch while
Lauren Kenny contributed two kills and an assist.
The Lakers will return to action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. PSAC matchup at West Chester.
