Women's Basketball Falls To Ursuline

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's basketball fell 68-58 to Ursuline in non-conference action on Wednesday.
 
Maria Lapertosa and Amber Renz led the Lakers with 19 points apiece. Stephanie Petery contributed eight points while Emilee Norris added six. Norris led rebounds with a game-high of eight, Renz followed close behind with seven.
 
Camile Gist led Ursuline with 24 points and Laney Lewis added 12. Lewis was the top rebounder for Ursuline, grabbing seven.
 
Mercyhurst (2-3, 2-0 PSAC) took the lead twice during the first going up 2-0 and 4-2 on baskets from Lapertosa. The Lakers then stretched their lead to 7-2 when Stephanie Petery sank a three-point shot. Ursuline then connected for eight consecutive points to capture the lead, claim a 20-19 advantage at the end of the quarter.
 
In the second quarter, the Arrows went on a 13-point streak to take a 39-27 lead. From there, they led for the remainder of the game.
 
Mercyhurst closed its deficit to 58-54 with two minutes left to play, but then Ursuline went on a 10-2 run to close the game.
 
Mercyhurst will play next when it travels to take on Walsh in non-conference action on Monday at 7 p.m.
