The Mercyhurst volleyball team will travel this weekend to compete against Cheyney, and West Chester in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Friday and Saturday night. The Lakers enter this weekend of competition on a two game win streak with victories over East Stroudsburg (3-2) and Kutztown (3-1).
 
Junior opposite Shelby Chesko leads the Lakers' overall offense, contributing 253 kills for a 2.75 kills-per set-average, she has also added 51 blocks with six of them being solo. Katie Baird has contributed 208 kills, for a 2.31 kills per set and Alyssa Zirnheld adds 202 kills for a 2.30 kills per set average. Baird is second on the team in aces with 28 she has also contributed 14 block assists on the season. Zirnheld ranks third on aces for Mercyhurst she has contributed 25 blocks, one of which was solo.
 
Makayla Mollé leads assists with 531 for 5.77 assists be set average, she also leads aces with 31.
 
Hannah Vuylsteke has led digs with 626, she has contributed 24 aces for the team. Alyssa Kling leads blocks with 60 block assists and 10 solo blocks.
 
CHEYNEY Friday, 7 pm:
 
Cheyney enters this contest on a 20 match losing streak not claiming a victory in the 2017 season thus far.
 
The Bulldogs are led by Virshawna Campbell who has recorded 140 kills for a 2.50 kill per set average, she is tied for the lead in aces with 15, and has contributed nine solo blocks. Alaiya Cave, has contributed 78 kills on the season for a 1.26 kills per set average she has 15 aces, and leads blocks with 22, of which 20 were solo blocks. Jamera Stanciel rounds out the top three players with 19 kills.
 
Mercyhurst defeated Cheyney 3-0 in the 2016 season.

 
WEST CHESTER Saturday, 1 pm:
 
West Chester (20-6, 9-5 PSAC) walks into this weekend of competition on a three match win streak as they have racked victories up against Georgian Court (3-1), Edinboro (3-1), and Slippery Rock (3-0).
 
The Golden Rams are led by Karliegh Lutz who has 307 kills on the season for a 3.41 kills per set average, she has contributed 18 aces, and 17 block assists on the season. Abbie Dischert has contributed 233 kills on the season for a 2.84 kills per set average she has added 19 aces, and 27 blocks seven of which were solo. Victoria Cruciani rounds out the top three with 166 kills for 1.87 kills per set, she leads blocks for the team with 76 on the season, 21 of which are solo. Jillian Grammar lead assists with 941, and digs with 238.
 
Mercyhurst defeated West Chester 3-1 in the 2016 season.
