ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team will host Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponents Cheyney and Millersville on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. The contests, which will tip off each day at 3 p.m., are PSAC crossover events.
The Lakers are coming off a season-opening, 69-55 non-conference win at Daemen.
Lorenzo Collier led Mercyhurst with 21 points.
Malcolm Walters added 13 points while leading rebounder
Dontae Williams hauled down seven boards for the Lakers (1-0).
CHEYNEY (0-2, 0-0)
The Wolves lost a pair of games in the PSAC/MEC Challenge at West Liberty. Cheyney fell to host WLU, 139-63, and then Charleston (W. Va.), 77-41.
Imir Bailey has been Cheyney's leading scorer thus far, averaging 12 points per game. Amir Boney and Jeff Lewis have averages of eight and seven rebounds per game, respectively.
Mercyhurst leads the all-time series against Cheyney, 12-3, and has won all seven meetings since the Lakers joined the PSAC. In the teams' last meeting, MU won, 70-56, at Cheyney (Nov. 19, 2016).
MILLERSVILLE (1-2, 0-0)
The Marauders have played in three straight nail-biters to open their season. They defeated Notre Dame (Ohio), 107-99, in double-overtime before suffering a 92-89 loss to Fairmont State and then a 76-75 loss to Wilmington (Del.).
Millersville has four scorers averaging double-figures: Marcus Adkinson (19.3 points per game), Conrad Chambers (18.3), Cajen Najdawi (12.3) and Mark Perry (10.7).
Mercyhurst leads the all-time series against Millersville, 4-3. The Marauders have won the last two meetings, including last year's 69-66 decision at Millersville (Nov. 20, 2016). The Lakers' last win over Millersville was a 69-63 final on Jan. 8, 2014.
