Lakers Pounced On Road For First Time This Season

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Merychurst men's soccer team suffered its largest defeat of the season in a 7-1 loss to Le Moyne Wednesday afternoon.

The non-conference loss snaps a five-game road winning streak and a three-game winning streak overall for Mercyhurst (7-3).

Le Moyne scored 1:40 after opening kickoff to take an early lead and doubled their lead with another score before the end of the first half in the 43rd minute.

The Lakers set themselves up for a comeback with the first goal in the second half. Hady Sarr netted a goal from eight yards out to bring the Lakers back within one, but the Dolphins fired right back with five unanswered goals to put the game well out of reach.

Mercyhurst outshot Le Moyne 15-10 for the game but only managed four shots on target compared to seven for their opponents.

Sarr's goal was his team-high ninth of the season. Jakob Rodén picked up an assist on the play and now has four helpers on the season.

The Lakers look to bounce back against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rival Millersville on the road this Saturday, Oct. 7 starting at 5:30 p.m.
