Men's Soccer Loses Second Straight

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's soccer team got another goal from Christopher Makengo but could not overcome three-goal, first-half deficit in a 4-1 loss to Millersville on the road Saturday evening.

The 21st-ranked Lakers (7-4) have now lost two straight road games after beginning the season 5-0 away from home. They are now 3-2 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play while the 11th-ranked Marauders improve to 8-2-1 overall and 4-2 in the PSAC.

Millersville's Chase Flickenger scored twice in the seventh and 28th minute. Sandwiched between his two first half goals was Marcus Frangakis' score in the 15th minute.

Makengo netted his ninth goal of the season to make it 3-1 just before the half in the 44th minute, but the Lakers could not mount a comeback in the second half. Frangakis scored his second of the game to put the game to bed in the 81st minute.

Makengo has scored nine goals with five assists on the season for a total of 23 points. He leads the PSAC with that point total.

Mercyhurst looks to turn things around when they return home to take on Lock Haven next Friday, Oct. 13 at 1:30 p.m.
