HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Mercyhurst women's hockey team fell victim to a three-goal third period by fifth-ranked Colgate to drop their second-straight game to the Raiders 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Mercyhurst (1-6-1) kept the game close throughout, matching Colgate (6-0-0) in shots on goal at 26 and only allowing one goal on eight Colgate power plays. The one power play goal the Raiders did score, however, ended up being the game-winning goal 6:46 into the third period.

Vilma Tanskanen extended her goal streak to three with her even-strength tally at 14:46 in the second period to tie the game at one.
Emma Nuutinen picked up her first assist of the season on the play with
Alexa Vasko earning her team-high fifth helper.
After Colgate's power play goal in the third to take a 2-1 lead, Mercyhurst killed two penalties to keep the game within striking distance. Goaltender
Sarah McDonnell made a big glove save on the second PK with 3:42 remaining, but Colgate eventually broke through for its third goal at 17:53 before adding an empty-netter with 57 seconds left.
McDonnell made 22 saves on 25 shots faced in her fourth start of the season.
Colgate's Breanne Wilson-Bennett and Malia Schneider were the goal scorers for the Raiders, each scoring twice for the game.
Mercyhurst looks to turn things around two weekends from now at University Park when they take on Penn State in a College Hockey America showdown Nov. 3-4.
