Box Score WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Mercyhurst field hockey team fell 7-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play on Saturday to West Chester. The Golden Rams stormed past the Lakers lowering their overall record to 6-9, while falling to 2-6 in the PSAC.
Katelyn Smith recorded a pair of shots, while
Amanda Frappolli and
Alexis Skibitsky each posted a shot on goal.
Victoria Triaga was the losing goalie for the contest she posted 9 saves but allowed seven goals during her 70 minutes in net.
Kaitlin Hatch had a hat trick during the game finding net in the 26
th minute of play on a breakaway, in the 35
th minute of play assisted by Caitlin Kelly and in the 34
th minute, assisted by Caitlin Kelly, and during the 46
th minute, assisted by Mackenzie Mlkvy and Katie Thompson. Rachel Toppi had a two score game, opening up scoring at the eight minute mark off of a penalty stroke, and the game's final goal with two seconds left in regulation assisted by Katie Thompson. Emily Evans and Katie Thompson also recorded goals for the Golden Rams.
West Chester was able to control possession of the ball limiting Mercyhurst's offensive capabilities, they outshot the Lakers 28 to 4. West Chester was also awarded 9 corners to the 2 attributed to the Lakers.
Mercyhurst will play again tomorrow on Sunday, against St. Thomas Aquinas in non-conference play at 12 pm.
