The Mercyhurst field hockey team will face off against (#7) West Chester in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action and St. Thomas Aquinas in non-conference play this weekend. The Lakers are coming into the competition after a 1-0 overtime loss to Slippery Rock on Tuesday.
Mercyhurst (6-8, 2-5 PSAC) is led by
Nicolette Tomani, who has recorded eight goals and one assist on the year for a 17 total points. Tomani has had a record year having a pair of two goal games, she has recorded a 21 of 34 (.618) shots on goal.
Clare Ahern is the second highest point earner with 11 she has recorded three goals and five assists.
Bryna Cook rounds out the top three offensive players she has four goals on the season for a total of eight point.
Taylor Balser,
Leah Rogers, and
Paige Albright produced multiple goals for the Lakers this season with two apiece.
Victoria Triaga has been the primary goalkeeper as she has played 910 minutes in net this season posting 58 saves for a .659 save percentage, and recording a 2.96 goals allowed average.
(#7) West Chester - Saturday, 1 pm:
West Chester (9-6, 3-4 PSAC) is led by Kaitlin Hatch who has posted 12 goals, and seven assists for 31 points, she has had four two goal games. Rachal Toppi has contributed 10 points for and six assists for a total of 26 points, Toppi had a hat trick in West Chester's 4-1 victory over Ursinus. Caitlin Kelly has contributed seven goals and two assists for 16 points, she has had one two goal game. West Chest has three other players who have broken the ten point threshold this season Mackenzie Mlkvy (six goals), Caitie McNamara (four goals, four assists) have contributed 12 points and Katie Thompson (four goals, three assists) has recorded 11. Marissa Elizardo is the primary goalkeeper for West Chester she has played just shy of a 1000 minutes in net, during hte time she has allowed 20 goals fro a 1.40 goals allowed average, and made 45 saves for a .692 save percentage.
West Chester defeated Mercyhurst twice in the 2016 season, claiming game one 5-1 and game two 7-0.

St. Thomas Aquinas - Sunday, 12 pm:
St. Thomas Aquinas (5-9) is led by Jaqueline Dowling and Taylor Hickey each having 10 points each, Dowling has three goals and four assists while Hickey has four goals and two assists. Meghan Mccarren and Arielle Rodriguez each have four goals for the Spartans, MacCarren has also contributed an assist for nine and eight points respectively. Suzanne Clarke has been the primary goalkeeper for the team with 832 minutes in net, she has allowed 49 goals for a 4.12 goals allowed average and contributed 99 saves for a .669 save percentage.
This will be the first meeting of the teams in program history. In action against the same opponents both teams have defeated Molloy, and fell to Kutztown. Mercyhurst defeated Molloy by a score of 5-0, while St. Thomas Aquinas has played Molloy twice defeating them both times by scores of 3-0, and 5-3. Both teams fell to Kutztown in play this year St. Thomas Aquinas was defeated by a score of 8-0 while Mercyhurst was taken down 4-0.
