Mercyhurst and the Erie Insurance Arena held the first Snowtown Throwdown during the 2014-15 season when Mercyhurst took on Ohio State. This year, the Lakers participate in the third SnowTown ThrowDown, as the second was played during the 2016-17 season against Penn State. The Lakers in Throwdown games.

Scouting Ferris State
The Bulldogs have a 1-3 overall record and 0-2 conference record so far this season.

Ferris State is coming off of a weekend series against Northern Michigan, where they fell 3-2 and 1-0.

The Bulldogs are coming into the season with four freshmen and two NCAA transfers.

Darren Smith and Justin Kapelmaster have split time in net, playing two games each. Smith has earned a 3.50 goals against average and .892 save percentage while Kapelmaster has put up a 2.54 GAA and .915 save percentage.

Riley (1g, 1a), Barach (1g, 3a) and Charbonneau (1g, 1a) are all riding two game point streaks.

For Ferris State:
Corey Mackin returns has one of the Bulldogs top scorers from last season as he was runner-up with 13 goals and 26 points. He currently has three assists on the season.

Mitch Maloney also returns as a top scorer from last season where he recorded 12 goals and 20 points. He has two goals and three points on the season.

"It's always exciting," said Head Coach
Rick Gotkin. "Having Ferris State University in town is going to be a challenge for us and I know they are going to be two great games. Our players are looking forward to it, so I think it's going to be a great and exciting weekend of college hockey."

Mercyhurst heads to Waltham, Mass., to take on AHA opponent Bentley University on October 27-28. Puck drops at 7:05p.m. both nights.
