SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Mercyhurst field hockey team fell 1-0 in overtime to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opponent Slippery Rock on Tuesday. The Lakers slide to a 6-8 overall record while falling to a 2-5 PSAC record.
Slippery Rock's Kailee Krupski, assisted by Kayla Mack, scored the only goal of the game in the seventh minute of overtime on a shot deflected off the score keeper.
Mercyhurst was led by
Clare Ahern who took three shots all of which were on goal.
Leah Rogers also put her shot of the game on goal.
Taylor Balser, and
Mia D'Amato both recorded a shot for the contest, but the Lakers were unable to find net on any of their attempts.
Victoria Triaga was the losing goal keeper for the contest she posted nine saves but allowed one goal for the game, her record drops to 6-8.
The Lakers were outshot 6 to14 allowing Slippery Rock to control the pace, 11 of The Rock's shots were on goal. Slippery Rock held a slight edge in corners posting 11 to the 10 awarded to the Lakers.
Mercyhurst will return to action next on Saturday when they take on (#7) West Chester in PSAC action, the contest is set to begin at 1 pm.
