Two-Goal 2nd Period For Lakers Not Enough In Loss

WENTZVILLE, Mo. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team lost its first College Hockey America (CHA) contest of the season in a 3-2 road defeat to Lindenwood Friday afternoon.
 
Mercyhurst (0-4-1) had its goals scored by Summer-Rae Dobson and Jennifer MacAskill in the second period. They each now have two goals this season.
 
Lindenwood's Taylor Girard scored her first of two goals shorthanded at 17:41 in the first period to give the Lions (1-3-1) the initial lead. Dobson and Girard traded goals eight seconds apart at 14:28 and 14:36 in the second period before MacAskill scored with 16 seconds remaining in the period to tie the game at two.
 
Shannon Morris-Reade scored the go-ahead goal 4:30 into the third period.
 
Sarah McDonnell made 22 saves between the pipes for Mercyhurst. Her counterpart Jolene deBruyn stopped 31 shots.

Maggie Knott and Sam Isbell assisted on Dobson's goal while Alexa Vasko and Morgan Stacey picked up helpers on MacAskill's score. 
 
Mercyhurst's search for its first win of the season continues tomorrow with a rematch against Lindenwood beginning at 10:30 a.m. CST (11:30 EST).
