CALIFORNIA, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team dropped a 69-52 decision to California (Pa.) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Saturday.
Lorenzo Collier led the Lakers (7-10, 5-8) in scoring with 11 points while
Durrell McDonald finished with 10 points.
For California (6-13, 3-10), Cordell Smith had 17 points while Robel Teckle and Daniel Sapp put in 15 and 12 points, respectively. Tony Richardson totaled eight rebounds.
The teams entered halftime tied at 26-26 before trading the lead eight times in the second half. Collier gave Mercyhurst its final lead, hitting a three-pointer with 10:26 to go, as the visitors went up, 46-44. After that, the host Vulcans outscored Mercyhurst, 25-6.
Smith led Cal on a 9-0 run with three consecutive three-pointers. The Vulcans added a 16-point run later to put the contest out of reach.
The Lakers will return to action on Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. PSAC contest at Edinboro.
