Lakers Host #7 Robert Morris In CHA Matchup

The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team hosts seventh-ranked Robert Morris at Mercyhurst Ice Center this Friday, January 20, and Saturday, January 21. Game time on Friday is 7 p.m. and puck drop Saturday will be at 1 p.m.
 
The Matchup
-The Lakers lead the all-time series 40-7-2 and have outscored the Colonials 135-38 over that span.
-Robert Morris got the best of Mercyhurst back in October, sweeping the Lakers at home with two 2-1 wins.
 
Scouting the Colonials
-Robert Morris is currently in the middle of its best season in program history with a 15-2-5 overall record and an 8-1-1 mark in College Hockey America.
-The Colonials hold a three-point lead in the CHA standings over second-place Syracuse.
-Robert Morris is ranked #7 in the latest USCHO.com USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine women's college hockey polls, the team's best ranking in program history.
-RMU is adept at getting on opponents by scoring early as indicated by their nation-high 22 first period goals.
-The Colonials are coming off a series split with Lindenwood last weekend, losing their first matchup 2-1 before bouncing back with a 5-2 win on Saturday.
-Junior Brittany Howard leads RMU with 38 points on 14 goals and 24 assists. She is the second-leading scorer in the country at 1.73 points per game.
-Freshman Jaycee Gebhard is tied with Howard for the team lead in goals with 14 and leads all freshmen nationwide with 30 points.
-Goaltenders Jessica Dodd and Katherine Murphy have split time in goal but have been equally impressive, with each posting seven wins and at least a .913 save percentage.
 
Laker Outlook
-The Lakers split last weekend's home series against R.I.T. They won 5-2 on Friday before getting shut out 4-0 Saturday.
-Mercyhurst currently sits in fourth place in the CHA behind RMU, Syracuse, and Penn State.
-Freshman Sam Isbell has found the scoring touch recently, scoring three goals in her last four games played. She has six goals and five assists on the season.
-Senior Taylor Accursi tallied three assists in Friday's win and is second on the squad with 19 total points (7 goals, 12 assists).
-The Lakers looking to improve their 3-3 home record against conference opponents.
-Mercyhurst is outscoring opponents 19-15 in the third period this season.
