ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team will host cross-town rival Gannon for a 7:30 p.m. Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference matchup on Wednesday at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. The contest is part of the Porreco Pride of Erie series.
The Lakers won both Porreco Pride of Erie matchups last season, taking a 48-37 victory in the MAC before winning at the Hammermill Center, 76-47.
Mercyhurst's leading scorer is
Durrell McDonald, who is averaging 13.9 points per game. DaJuan Dent is the Lakers' leading rebounder with 4.3 per game while
H'ian Hale paces the squad in assists (3.9) and steals (2.6). Hale leads the PSAC in steals.
Gannon has three scorers averaging in double-figures: Matthew Dogan (17.8), who is eighth in the PSAC; Zay Jackson (17.3), who is 10th in the PSAC; and Evan Phoenix (15.4). Phoenix averages 7.3 rebounds (sixth in PSAC) while team leader Damon Miraud averages 9.7 (third in PSAC). The Golden Knights have won five straight games, including two in overtime and two in double-overtime.
