Heintz Records Another Triple In Women's Hoops Victory Over Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa. - Angela Heintz recorded her second triple-double of the season as the Mercyhurst women's basketball team defeated Seton Hill, 73-59, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play on Wednesday night.

Heintz finished with with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Leading scorer Natalie Piaggesi added 20 points, eight rebounds and four blocks.

Also for Mercyhurst (14-2, 9-1), Alex Artise totaled 14 points and three steals while Jalin Steel contributed 10 points. 

Jenna Kaufman led Seton Hill with 13 points and Maggie McLoughlin added 10. Chrisanna Green grabbed eight rebounds.

After falling behind 9-5 in the opening quarter, the Lakers went on an 11-3 run -- courtesy of three-pointers by Steel, Artise and Heintz (and a two-point jumper by Piaggesi) -- to take a 16-12 lead. From that point, Mercyhurst led the rest of the way.

The Lakers stretched an 11-0 run across both quarters in the first half -- getting six consecutive points from Piaggesi at one point -- and widened the gap to 27-14. The Mercyhurst lead held in double-digits the rest of the way.

MU pushed its way to its largest lead in the third quarter, when a 13-0 run increased the advantage to 57-29. Artise had seven points during that stretch.

The Lakers made 27 of 53 attempts from the field (50.9 percent), 11 of 22 from beyond the arc (50.0) and 8 of 10 from the free-throw line (80.0) while Seton Hill went to 21 of 60 (35.0), 9 of 25 (35.0) and 8 of 12 (66.7), respectively. The Lakers outrebounded the Griffins, 39-30.

The Lakers will return to action on Saturday against Pittsburgh-Johnstown in conference play at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
