ERIE Pa. – The Mercyhurst volleyball team pushed their season record to (9-3) after defeating the Millersville Marauders Saturday September 24th at home. The Lakers won the first three sets of the match with scores of (25-18) in set one, (25-22) in set two and (25-21) in the third set. By doing so securing themselves an early victory.
 
The Lakers collectively scored a total of 40 kills throughout the three game., Haley Adams and Shelby Chesko were team leaders in the category with eight apiece. There were five aces from the service line from the Lakers. Adams and Lauren Kenny, both recorded one while Hannah Tombaugh had a solo.
 
On the defensive side of the ball, Samantha Giardina lead the team in digs, recording 19, while Freda Ireigbe had 8, both Sarah Wegrzyn, and Shelby Chesko were awarded seven apiece throughout the game. Adams and Kenny also posted two block assists to help propel their team to victory.
 
The Lakers volleyball team will play next Friday, September 30th in Johnstown against the University of Pittsburgh Johnston at 7:00 PM.
