GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Men's soccer team enjoyed an offensive explosion Saturday afternoon in its 5-2 victory over Seton Hill.
 
The Lakers set the tone early in the game with three goals in the first 17 minutes. 
Andrew Bennett netted his first of the season on a header coming from a 
Connor Wilkinson corner kick in the ninth minute. In the 11
th minute, 
Ruaidhri McGuire scored his first of the season after breaking free on a long through ball from 
Thom Derks to make it 2-0.
 
McGuire wasn't done yet. In the 17
th minute, Wilkinson found McGuire with a pass inside the box and McGuire finished for his second of the game to extend the Laker lead to three.
 
Seton Hill answered with two straight goals to crawl back into the game. Harry Beattie scored on a penalty kick in the 31
st minute. After halftime in the 60
th minute, Tom Urquhart cut the Laker lead to just one when he netted one from inside the penalty area.
 
Mercyhurst responded by putting the game away with two more goals. 
Jorge Gonzalez was the goal-scorer on Wilkinson's third assist of the game in the 61
st minute to make the score 4-2. Shortly after in the 63
rd minute, 
Thom Derks buried his seventh goal in eight games to put the Lakers ahead by the eventual final tally of 5-2.
 
Mercyhurst (5-2-1, 4-1-0) gets back on the pitch at home next Wednesday hosting Ohio Valley at 3:30 p.m.
