SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's soccer team fell victim to a late goal losing to Slippery Rock 1-0 on Tuesday night.
The loss is the Lakers' second straight 1-0 defeat and drops their road record to 1-2-1 on the season.
Slippery Rock was responsible for almost all of the game's scoring chances, as the team fired 12 shots in the game compared to just one for Mercyhurst. Despite the barrage of chances against her, Mercyhurst goalie
Kristen Koch kept the game scoreless by stopping Slippery Rock's first eight shots on net.
There was no score in the game until the 77
th minute, when Tyler Spence broke the scoreless tie in favor of Slippery Rock. Spence headed a cross downward but towards the goal and it rolled into the net for the go-ahead goal.
Mercyhurst (3-3-1) remains in fourth place in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference standings with 10 points after the loss. They'll look to end their two-game skid at Seton Hill Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
