ERIE, Pa. -- The 10th-ranked Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team used a six-goal run in the fourth quarter to take an 11-6 victory over Tampa during Saturday's non-conference action on Tullio Field.

James Crowe scored three goals while Connor Enright and Kurtis Woodland chipped in two goals and one assist each for the Lakers (8-2), who snapped a 5-all tie with their late surge.

Keyan McQueen added two goals. Sam Crusha and Greg Weyl put in one goal apiece for Mercyhurst. Colin Greenway made three assists. Alex Misterman contributed one assist.

Weyl led the defense with seven groundballs and six caused turnovers while winning goaltender Matt Wells totaled six saves. Benjamin Brooks picked up five groundballs and Misterman caused four turnovers.

The contest featured several runs as Mercyhurst took a 3-0 lead, Tampa cut the lead to 3-2 and then Mercyhurst held a 5-2 advantage at halftime.

The visiting Spartans (10-2) dominated the third quarter, scoring three goals to pull even at 5-5.

Then, Mercyhurst erupted in the fourth. Crowe and Woodland had two goals apiece during the 6-0 stretch. A goal by Crowe, with 11:42 left in the contest, put the Lakers ahead for good. The 6-5 advantage held until a Woodland goal with 6:45 remaining; that score triggered a stretch in which MU had five goals in 3:26.

Conor Whipple was Tampa's leading point-getter, finishing with one goal and one assist. Alex Patton had five groundballs and goalie A.J. Arnold made nine stops.

The Lakers outshot the Spartans, 38-21, while Tampa held an 11-9 faceoff advantage.
