INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The fourth-ranked Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team defeated 17th-ranked Indianapolis, 10-2, and clinched the Eastern College Athletic Conference championship on Saturday.
Connor Enright and
Kurtis Woodland scored two goals apiece for the Lakers (13-2, 7-1), who had the game's first three scores and never trailed.
James Crowe,
Sam Crusha,
Oran Horn,
Keyan McQueen,
Derek Richards and
Greg Weyl also had goals for Mercyhurst. Richards made two assists while Crowe, ENright, McQueen and
Myles Young added one apiece.
Also for Mercyhurst,
Benjamin Brooks picked up three groundballs.
Alex Misterman caused two turnovers and was 8 of 14 in faceoffs.
Matt Wells was the winning goaltender, finishing with eight saves.
Parker Kump and Eric Lounds scored the UIndy goals. Jarod Kimble added 10 saves in the cage.
With the top seed in the ECAC, the Lakers have earned the right to host the ECAC semifinals and finals, which will take place May 6 and 8.
