ERIE, Pa. --
Kurtis Woodland scored four goals, leading the fourth-ranked Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team to a 12-4 victory against ninth-ranked Lake Erie in an Eastern College Athletic Conference contest on Saturday at Tullio Field.
Derek Richards,
Connor Enright and
Colin Greenway added two goals apiece while
James Crowe and
Oran Horn put in one each.
Crowe led the team in assists, finishing with three. Richards had two helpers while Enright and
Keyan McQueen had one apiece.
Also for the Lakers (11-2, 6-1),
Benjamin Brooks picked up four groundballs and
Greg Weyl contributed three GBs. Winning goaltender
Matt Wells made 10 saves.
Mercyhurst broke a 2-2 tie with a four-goal run in the second quarter, including three by Woodland. That began a stretch in which the Lakers outscored the Storm, 8-1, to build a 10-3 advantage.
Lucas Schafer had three goals and one assist to lead Lake Erie (8-5, 5-2). Tom Lipomi had seven saves in the cage.
Mercyhurst outshot Lake Erie, 29-25, while the Storm held a 10-6 faceoff advantage.
The Lakers will play their next game on Wedneday when Roberts Wesleyan visits Tullio Field for a 4 p.m. non-conference matchup.
