ERIE, Pa. -- The fifth-ranked Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team rolled past Ohio Valley for a 19-4 victory in Eastern College Athletic Conference play on Sunday.
Michael Convery was the Lakers' leading point-getter, finishing with four goals and three assists. He also had five groundballs.
Keyan McQueen added three goals while
Joe Gravino,
Colin Greenway and
Dom Perna chipped in with two goals each. Single goals were recorded by
Brett Benzinger,
James Crowe,
Derek Richards,
Kurtis Woodland and
Myles Young.
Woodland and
John Plaskey made two assists each. Crowe, Greenway, Young,
Alex Misterman,
Kevin Vaughn and
Ryan Vitale also had assists. Vitale added a 7-of-10 performance in the faceoff circle, finishing with four groundballs.
Matt Wells was the winning goaltender, making one save during the first half.
William Koester added four saves in relief.
The Lakers (10-2, 5-1) scored the game's first eight goals and cruised from there. They outshot the visiting Fighting Scots, 46-17. Ohio Valley held a 14-13 edge in faceoffs.
Steve Zolezzi scored twice for OVU (2-8, 0-6) and Zach Hermenau picked up six groundballs. In the cage, Alexander Naftal stopped 12 shots.
The Lakers will return to action on Saturday with a 3 p.m. ECAC contest against nationally-ranked Lake Erie.
