LANCASTER, Pa. -- The 46th-ranked Mercyhurst women's tennis team swept a 9-0 decision over Millersville in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference interdivisional matchup on Saturday.
The Lakers (10-4) opened doubles play with a combined score of 24-5 over the host Marauders (5-9).
Annie Baich and
Saioa Gomez de Segura teamed for the only 8-0 sweep in pairs action, beesting Tori Davis and Kaylora Thompson at No. 2 doubles.
Adrianna Jeffress and
Kayla Frost won the first doubles match over Sarah Sambrick and Nicole Daacke, 8-4, while
Adina Spahalic and
Carmen Mantecon Duro teamed for an 8-1 at third doubles.
The Lakers had four different singles wins that ended 6-0, 6-0, as they pieced together a combined score of 72-5. Those 6-0, 6-0, sweeps included 24th-ranked Gomez de Segura over Sambrick at first singles; Baich against Kimberly Theophile at fourth singles; Frost versus Thompson at No. 5 singles; and Spahalic against Jessica Soullaird at sixth singles.
Jeffress won the No. 2 singles match over Daacke, 6-3, 6-0, and Mantecon Duro bested Davis at third singles, 6-0, 6-2.
