ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst baseball team earned a pair of wins over Clarion, 3-0 and 8-4, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division action at the Mercyhurst Baseball Field on Friday.

Game One: Mercyhurst 3, Clarion 0Mercyhurst starting pitcher
Colin McKee went the distance as he fired a two-hit shutout the earn the win. In seven innings of work, he recorded nine strikeouts and three walks.
Austin Alonge batted 2-for-2 while
Hank Morrison was 2-for-3. Each recorded one stolen base.
The Lakers pushed across the game's only three runs in the fourth inning.
Cameron Balego and
Jimmy Latona had RBI singles; Latona later scored on an error.
Clarion pitcher Tyler Delval was the losing pitcher, finishing with four strikeouts and one walk. He allowed two earned runs (three total) and eight hits.
Game Two: Mercyhurst 8, Clarion 4After Clarion evened the score at 3-3 in the sixth inning, the Lakers tallied five runs in their half of the frame and led the rest of the way.
Alonge doubled twice, finishing 2-for-4, while
Brendan Cox went 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI.
Daniel Elliott added a 2-for-4 game while Balego was 2-for-3. Latona scored twice.
Cam Knott started on the hill for Mercyhurst, tossing five shutout innings of four-hit ball. He tallied three strikeouts.
Relief pitcher
Jamie Lauria worked out of a jam in the sixth and worked the game's final two innings. He had three strikeouts and was the winning pitcher.
Latona drove in a run in the MU second and then Cox and Elliott provided RBI singles during the fifth as the Lakers grabbed a 3-0 lead. Then, the visiting Golden Eagles (5-17, 1-5) struck back with three runs in the sixth.
In the Laker sixth,
Collin Fantaskey gave Mercyhurst (18-8, 7-3)Â the lead with an RBI double. Cox followed with a two-run single, Alonge had an RBI two-bagger and Morrison had an RBI single.
The Eagles scored once more in the seventh for the game's final run.
Sean White started on the mound for Clarion, giving up three runs on seven hits while recording three strikeouts and two walks. Reliever Chase Gorski took the loss.
The same two teams will meet again on Saturday at the Mercyhurst Baseball Field, beginning at 1 p.m. The contest was originall scheduled to be played at Clarion, but field conditions have moved the game to Erie. Clarion will bat as the home team in both Saturday games.
