PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Mercyhurst goaltender
Jessica Convery recorded her first collegiate win -- and shutout -- as the Lakers' women's ice hockey team defeated Robert Morris, 4-0, in a College Hockey America matchup on Friday.
Convery totaled 31 saves as four different goal-scorers helped MU earn the road victory.
Hannah Bale,
Rachael Smith,
Brooke Hartwick and
Sarah Robello found the net for Mercyhurst (13-10-4, 10-3-2).
Molly Blasen tallied a pair of assists.
Bale's goal, with assists from Blasen and
Jaclyn Arbour, gave Mercyhurst a 1-0 lead in the first period before the Lakers scored three more goals in the second.
Smith pushed MU's lead to 2-0 -- with assists from
Jennifer MacAskill and
Emily Janiga -- before Hartwick put in an unassisted goal. Robello finished the scoring, getting assists from Blasen and
Kathy Donohue.
Jessica Dodds had 29 saves in goal for Robert Morris (14-10-5, 6-5-4).
The Lakers outshot the Colonials, 42-31. Neither team scored on the power play: Mercyhurst, in three opportunities, and RMU, with five opportunities.
The same two teams will meet again on Saturday, beginning at 3:05 p.m.
