ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's ice hockey team suffered a 4-1 loss to Bentley in Atlantic Hockey action at the Mercyhurst Ice Center on Friday.
Jonathan Charbonneau scored the lone Laker goal, getting assists from
Derek Barach and
Lester Lancaster. MU goaltender
Adam Carlson finished with 24 saves in net.
A power-play goal by Kyle Schmidt gave the visiting Falcons (11-13-4, 9-9-4) a 1-0 lead in the first period and BU led the rest of the way from there.
Jake Ahlgren expanded the Bentley lead to 2-0 in the second period before Charbonneau cut the lead in half while Mercyhurst (13-13, 11-9-1) was on a 5-on-3 power play.
Andrew Gladiuk and Max French had Falcon goals in the third period -- French's being an empty-netter -- to pull away to victory. Schmidt and French had three-point nights for the visitors, totaling one goal and two assists each.
Bentley outshot Mercyhurst, 28-18, as winning goalie Jayson Argue stopped 17 shots. The Lakers went 1-for-3 on the power play while Bentley was 1-for-5.
The same two teams will meet in Erie on Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
