The MatchupThe Mercyhurst men's hockey team will travel to Rochester, N.Y., to take on the Rochester Institute of Technology on Friday before welcoming the Tigers into the Mercyhurst Ice Center on Saturday for "Senior Night."

Mercyhurst (13-9-4 AHA) is currently sitting in fifth place in the Atlantic Hockey standings with 30 points. Last weekend, the Lakers tied Army on Friday, 2-2, before winning 3-1 the next night.

RIT (14-7-5 AHA) is currently in a three way tie with Air Force and Holy Cross for second place in the Atlantic Hockey standings with 33 points. Last weekend the Tigers tied Niagara, 4-4, before defeating them 5-2 the next night.

Quarterfinals Bye With the Lakers' performance against Army last weekend, they claimed a bye to the AHA Tournament quarterfinals. The Lakers now look to move into the Top 4 in the AHA standings, which would guarantee them a home series in the quarters. A sweep over RIT would help this cause.

Last Time Around The last time RIT and Mercyhurst met, the Tigers swept the weekend series, 4-2 and 7-3.

During the first game on Jan. 2, RIT took a 2-0 lead into the third period. The Lakers converted on the power play early in the third period with a goal from redshirt-sophomore
Jack Riley. The goal was assisted by freshmen
Lester Lancaster and
Derek Barach. RIT recorded two more goals of its own before freshman
Josh Lammon found the back of the net from Riley to end the game at 4-2, RIT. Wildung had 41 saves between the pipes.

During the second game on Jan. 3, the Lakers got on the board first with a goal from sophomore
Tyler Enns, but RIT soon tied the game at one. The game was then tied at 2 and 3, before RIT scored four unanswered goals and ran away with the 7-3 win. The Lakers' other two goals were from Lammon and junior
Kyle Dutra. Riley (2), Dutra, sophomore
Jonathan Charbonneau and freshmen
Chris Makowski and
Jeremy Wu all picked up assists during the game as well.

Wildung Receives HonorSophomore
Brandon Wildung was named the Atlantic Hockey Goalie of the Week following his performance during the Lakers matchup against Army on Feb. 20. Wildung stopped 36 pucks and had a .973 save percentage to ensure the Lakers' 3-1 win over the Black Knights.
