Men's Ice Hockey Travels to Sacred Heart

Match Up
  • The Lakers will head to Sacred Heart for a two-game weekend Atlantic Hockey matchup on Friday and Saturday.
Game Recap        
  • The Lakers traveled to Buffalo, NY and defeated Canisius College 5-1 on Fri. Nov 25.
  • Mercyhurst scored the first two goals of the game and never looked back, letting Canisius score one goal before scoring three unanswered goals.
  • Five players recorded goals while another five players were credited the assists.
Previous Meeting
  • During last season the Lakers welcomed Sacred Heart for a two-game weekend series in January.
  • They won the first game 2-1 before falling 6-4 the next night.
A Look at the Pioneers
  • Sacred Heart is coming off of a weekend series against Robert Morris where they lost both games.
  • They have an overall record of 5-9-2 and a conference record of 3-7-0.
  • Evan Jasper is leading the Pioneer's roster with 14 points. Justin Danforth and Jordan Minello are right behind with 13 points.
  • Minello was named AHA Player of the Week on November 29 for his performance against AIC where he recorded four goals and one assist. 
Barach Leading
  • Sophomore Derek Barach is on top of the Laker's roster with 16 points. He has two goals and 14 assists with one game-winning goal this season.
AHA Rookie of the Week
  • Freshman goaltender Colin DeAugustine was named AHA Rookie of the Week on November 29 for his performance against Canisius where he made 39 saves to seal a 5-1 win for the Lakers. 
Laker Firsts
  • Freshmen James Anderson and Joey Duszak scored their first collegiate goals during the Lakers 5-1 win over Canisius.
Coaches Corner
  • "I think it's probably going to take us a couple shifts to get our legs under us, but we had a really good competitive week of practice and I think we'll be in fine shape in terms of that (having a bye week)," said Head Coach Rick Gotkin.
Next Up
  • The Lakers ready for a home and home series against AHA Opponent Robert Morris on December 17 and 18.
  • They will travel to Moon Township, PA on Saturday where the puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
  • The Lakers will welcome Robert Morris on Sunday at 4:05 p.m.
  • That Sunday game will be a Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used stuffed animal to throw on the ice when the Lakers score their first goal of the game. All donations will be given to the Erie City Mission
