Weekend Overview
  • The Mercyhurst men's ice hockey team is set to take their first road trip of the season on Nov. 4-5 when they travel to play Merrimack and New Hampshire.
Last Time Out
  • The Lakers are coming off of a split weekend series with Atlantic Hockey opponent American International at home.
  • Ten players recorded points over the weekend. Six of those players had multi-point nights.
Scouting Merrimack
  • The Warriors are currently 3-4-1 overall and 0-1-1 in Hockey East play.
  • They are coming off of a 6-2 loss to New Hampshire.
  • They skated to a 2-2 overtime tie against eighth-ranked Boston College in October.
  • Senior Hampus Gustafsson and junior Brett Seney are leading Merrimack's roster in points with six each.
Last Time against Merrimack
  • Back in October 2014, the Lakers took on Merrimack for a two-game series at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. The Warriors took the first game in overtime, 5-4, before the Lakers bounced back to grab a 3-2 win the next day..
A Look at New Hampshire
  • The Wildcats have a 3-3 overall record so far this season. They will play against Sacred Heart on Friday before welcoming the Lakers on Saturday.
  • They're on a two-game winning streak, with a 4-1 win over Massachusetts and a 6-2 win over Merrimack.
  • Freshman Patrick Grasso is at the top of New Hampshire's point chart with ten points in six games. Senior Tyler Kelleher is close behind with nine points.
  • The Wildcats have two players that were drafted by National Hockey League teams: sophomore Marcus Vela (San Jose Sharks) and junior Shane Eiserman (Ottawa Senators).
Past Meeting with New Hampshire
  • The Lakers and Wildcats have only met once before when Mercyhurst traveled to New Hampshire in 2004 and lost, 5-4.
Coaches Corner
  • Lakers head coach Rick Gotkin and Wildcats head coach Dick Umile have held two of the longest coaching careers at one institution with Gotkin ranking second and Umile ranking third in years at one institution. Michigan head coach Red Berenson tops the list.
Mercyhurst Leaders
  • Sophomore Derek Barach lead the Lakers with seven points in four games. Sophomore Les Lancaster is close behind with six points.
  • Junior goaltender Brandon Wildung saved 59 of the 67 shots he saw during the weekend series against AIC.
Next Up
  • The Lakers will welcome AHA opponent Holy Cross for a home weekend series on Nov. 11-12. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. both nights at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
