ASHLAND, Oh. - Mercyhurst women's basketball team dropped their first game of the year to (#3) Ashland University with a score of 59-85. This loss drops the Lakers to a record of 5-1 on the season. 

The Lakers had three seniors put up double digit scores throughout the course of the game Natalie Piaggesi (18), Angela Heintz (15), and Alex Artise (10). Senior Jalin Steel brought down a total of eight rebounds, and dished out four assists both numbers being team high. The Lakers shot 19-52 (36.5%) from the field. Despite this offensive pressure the Lakers were unable to hold off the Eagles on their way to victory. The Eagles had six individual players reach double digits in points, while shooting 34-68 (50%) from the field.
