Women's Basketball Handles Bloomsburg

Box Score ERIE, Pa – The Mercyhurst women's basketball teamed rolled by Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) competitor Bloomsburg on Saturday Dec. 3rd. The Lakers won with a score of 66-46, pushing their season record to 6-1, while moving forward to 3-0 in the PSAC.
 
Bloomsburg went out to take an early three-point lead in the first quarter, however the Huskies were unable to hold on to it after three minutes of play. Mercyhurst rallied to take the lead through the entire rest of the game, at its highest point the Lakers led the game by 27 points.
 
The Lakers scoring was led by Natalie Piaggesi, who posted 22 points shooting 11-14 (79%) on the game. Fellow senior Angela Heintz followed closely behind putting up 20 points of her own shooting 6-12 (50%) from the field and 2-4 (50%) from behind the arc, while also throwing out nine assists.
 
The Lakers shot just over 45% (26-57) from inside the three point line, as a team through the game, shooting 44.8% (13-29) in the first half and 46.4% (13-28) in the second half. They also shot 100% (8-8) from the free throw line. This offense was maintained while holding the visiting Huskies to 41% (16-39).
 
Bloomsburg scoring was led by Marissa Molnar who was the lone Huskie to break into double digits, posting 11 points against the Lakers.
 
The Lakers will compete next tomorrow Sunday December 4th, against the East Stroudsburg Warriors at 1 PM.
