MANSFIELD, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst field hockey team earned its first victory of the season, taking a 4-1 decision over Mansfield in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday.
Kaitlyn Lechner scored two goals and Alexandra Albright and
Bryna Cook chipped in one apiece. Assists were credited to Albright and
Claire Ahern.

Sam Takac had four shots for the Lakers, who held a 22-13 shot advantage.
Albright scored the game's first goal in the eighth minute, dribbling in from the top of the circle and beating Mansfield goalie Laura Lawson. That score was quickly answered by host Mansfield, which got a goal from Kait eJamison.
The Lakers then put in three unanswered goals during the second half. Cook was assisted by Ahern in the 46th minute. Then came the insurance goals: Lechner, with an assist from Albright, in the 60th minute; and Lechner, unassisted, in the 69th.
Lawson had six stops for Mansfield before she was relieved by Brittany Ryan, who made two saves.
Mercyhurst will return to action on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. home PSAC contest against Indiana (Pa.).
