Men's Ice Hockey Set for Home Series Against AIC

Setting the Scene
  • The Mercyhurst men's hockey team welcomes American International for a weekend home series on Oct. 28-29.
  • MU has not lost to the Yellow Jackets since 2012.
Last Time Out
  • The Lakers are coming off of their first win of the season against Atlantic Hockey opponent the Niagara Purple Eagles. 
A Look at AIC
  • The Yellow Jackets (0-2-1, 0-1-0) are looking for their first win of the season.
  • They suffered a 6-3 in their first conference game of the season to AHA opponent Sacred Heart on Sunday.
  • AIC has a young team with 13 freshmen on this season's roster.
  • Freshmen Dominik Florian and Janis Jaks and junior Bryant Christian are leading the Yellow Jacket's roster with three points each.
Lakers Talent
  • Junior Jonathan Charbonneau scored two goals and gave the Lakers an early lead in their 4-2 win over Niagara.
  • Sophomore Derek Barach had a three-point night against the Purple Eagles, with one goal and two assists.
  • Including Charbonneau and Barach, the Lakers had nine players record points during their first conference game on the season against Niagara. 
Last Meeting
  • Last season, the Yellow Jackets came to Mercyhurst for a weekend series, where the Lakers swept the weekend, winning 3-1 and 5-3.
Next Up
  • MU will take on out-of-conference, Merrimack College and the University of New Hampshire, in their first road trip of the season. They will face the Warriors on Friday November 4 and take on the Wildcats on Saturday November 5.
