ERIE Pa.- Jinan Funes provided the game's only goal as the Mercyhurst women's soccer team defeated Pittsburgh-Johnstown, 1-0, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match on Saturday at the Mercyhurst Soccer Field.

Funes convered the game-winner -- her third tally of the season -- on an assist from Nicole McAlpin in the 13th minute. McAlpin sent a cross to Funes inside the 18-yard box.

Winning goalkeeper Kristen Koch had two saves to earn the win for the Lakers (6-3-1) while Leigh Appolonia stopped 10 shots for UPJ (0-10).

The Lakers outshot Pitt-Johnstown, 15-3, and held a 2-0 edge on corner kicks.
 
Mercyhurst will play next on Wednesday when it hosts Edinboro in PSAC action at 4 p.m.
