ROCHESTER, N.Y. --
Jack Riley had a goal and an assist, but the Mercyhurst men's ice hockey team suffered a 4-2 loss to the Rochester Institute of Technology in an Atlantic Hockey matchup on Saturday.
Josh Lammon also had a goal for the Lakers (8-9-0, 6-5-0). Goaltender
Brandon Wildung accumulated 41 saves.
RIT goals by Caleb Cameron and Liam Kerins in the first and second periods, respectively, helped the hosts to a 2-0 lead.
Riley got Mercyhurst on the board in the third period, converting a power-play goal with assists from
Lester Lancaster and
Derek Barach.
The Tigers (6-9-2, 6-4-1) then answered with two more scores -- one from Brady Norrish and another by Alex Perron-Fontaine -- to expand their advantage to 4-1.
Lammon had the game's final goal with 1:59 remaining in the third. Riley assisted the goal.
Norrish was RIT's leading point-getter, finishing with one goal and two assists. Mike Rotolo earned the win in net with 27 saves.
Both teams had a power-play goal: MU went 1-for-5 while RIT finished 1-for-4. The Tigers held a 45-29 shot advantage.
The same two squads will meet again on Sunday -- this time at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. Opening faceoff is slated for 7:05 p.m.
