Field Hockey Falls to American International Sunday Afternoon

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst University field hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to American International Sunday afternoon in non-conference action. Sam Takac made 10 saves in goal for the Lakers.

After a scoreless first half, the Yellow Jackets scored six and a half minutes in at the 41:47 mark to give AIC a 1-0 advantage. American International added a second goal seven minutes later with 21 minutes left to play. Taylor Ruscillo made it 3-0 late in the second half to put the game out of reach.

Takac recorded 10 saves. Nicolette Tomani and Jessica Brandon each fired three shots with both recording one on net.

Mercyhurst falls to 0-2 overall, while American International moves to 1-0.

The Lakers will host Millersville on Wednesday at Tullio Field for their first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
