LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Mercyhurst University women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Lock Haven on the road Saturday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup.
The Bald Eagles scored early (12 minute mark) in the first half off a Jordan Shoff goal that beat Laker goalkeeper
Kristen Koch to the far post.
Lock Haven led at the half, 1-0, before another Shoff goal gave the Bald Eagles a 2-0 advantage. Shoff ran down a long pass, beating the Laker defense for a breakaway shot that found the back of the net.
Mercyhurst would close the deficit in the 67th minute, when
Lauren Testa assisted
Nicole McAlpin on a cross pass that McAlpin was able to handle and score to the far post.
A late Laker surge almost sent the game into overtime; however, Lock Haven goalie Morgan Euston made three nice saves down the stretch to prevent the comeback.
With the loss, Mercyhurst falls to 0-1-1, 0-1-1 PSAC. Lock Haven improves to 1-1, 1-1 PSAC.
Mercyhurst returns to actions on Friday, September 11 at 1:00 p.m. when the Lakers host West Chester University.
