Roberti, Testa Lead Women’s Soccer Past Seton Hill, 3-1, Saturday Afternoon

ERIE, Pa. – Senior forward Kristina Roberti continued her hot start to the 2015 season with a pair of goals as the Mercyhurst University women's soccer team erased an early deficit and defeated Seton Hill 3-1 Saturday afternoon during Homecoming weekend. The Lakers improved to 3-3-2 overall and in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) while the Griffins dropped to 3-5-0 and 3-5-0, respectively.

Seton Hill drew first blood at 10:15 of the opening half when freshman forward Emily LoPresti stole the ball in the Lakers' defensive third and beat Mercyhurst junior goalkeeper Kristin Koch (2-2-2) to her right side. After having much of the territorial advantage in the first 45 minutes, the Lakers finally tied the game late in the half when Roberti collected her fifth goal of the season, with help from junior forward Rebekah Craig. Roberti accepted Craig's pass, dribbled past the defense, and parked one behind Griffins' senior goalkeeper Carolin Edenhofner (2-4-0). Mercyhurst had more shots (12-4), more shots on goal (5-2), and more corners (7-2) in the first half.

Mercyhurst senior forward Lauren Testa then put the Lakers ahead to stay at 54:28 with her second of the year, helped by graduate student Rachel Fulton. Testa's blast, from 18 yards out, eluded Edenhofner. Roberto struck again at 74:51 when she outraced the defense and blasted the ball high over the Seton Hill netminder. Roberti now has six of the Lakers' 13 goals this season.

Mercyhurst outshot the Griffins 18-9 and had more shots on goal, 9-3. Corner kicks favored the Lakers 8-3. Koch was credited with two saves while counterpart Edenhofner made six.

The Lakers will return to action Tuesday night when they travel to Daemen for a non-conference game at 7:30.
