ERIE, PA – The #6 Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team was voted the WICU's "Team of the Week" after their recent accomplishments within the past few days. WICU is the Erie-area's NBC affiliate.

The squad advanced one spot to sixth according to the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II poll released Monday afternoon. Going 3-0 this past week, the Lakers were able to take down opponents IUP, Kutztown, and Bloomsburg. They head into the last week of regular season play with a record of 13-2 (9-1 PSAC).
Senior attack
Rebecca Himes was also recognized this past week for breaking the career assists record at Mercyhurst. She has 134 assists to date, breaking the previous record of 132 in the contest versus Bloomsburg this past weekend.
This coming week Mercyhurst heads to Slippery Rock on Wednesday, 4/22 for a 7:00pm game. The Rock is 8-7 on the season and 6-4 in the PSAC. They are on a four game winning streak, and have most recently defeated Kutztown University, 19-11.
The squad will return home this coming Saturday for their Senior Game versus Shippensburg University. The game will begin at 11:00am immediately following the senior recognition ceremony.
