GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The Mercyhurst University Lakers dropped one spot and is now ranked eighth in the country according to the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division II poll which was released on Monday afternoon.
Mercyhurst (7-1, 2-0 PSAC) won both of their conference games this past week taking on East Stroudsburg University and West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
Mercyhurst hosted ESU on Friday, March 27
th, and won the contest 16-7. The Lakers were down 5-4 at halftime, but were able to come back and score 12 goals in the second half. They took that same momentum into Saturday's game versus West Chester and took down the #18 ranked Golden Rams 12-4.
Rebecca Himes and
Jenna Schlagenhauf led the attack for the Lakers this week. Himes had 5 goals and 6 assists in the two contests, while Schlagenhauf picked up 6 goals and one assist of her own.
The squad is on the road this week versus Seton Hill on Wednesday, before returning to Tullio Field for a home game Saturday versus Edinboro University.
