ERIE, PA – The #7 Mercyhurst Lakers will be hosting East Stroudsburg and West Chester this weekend in a bout of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matches at Tullio Field. Mercyhurst (5-1, 1-0 PSAC) is on a five game winning streak coming into this weekend.
The Lakers took on opponents Tiffin University and Millersville University this past week. Despite a late game rally, Tiffin was no match for the stellar Laker defense and Mercyhurst was able to capture the win 14-11. Senior captain Rebecca Himes had 3 goals and 3 assists. The squad then went on the road for their first PSAC contest of the year versus Millersville. Once again, the team prevailed and claimed an 18-11 victory. Sophomore Carly Zimmerman walked away from the match with a career high of 5 goals.
This coming weekend the Lakers will face fellow PSAC members East Stroudsburg University and West Chester University of Pennsylvania. The East Stroudsburg Warriors are 4-0, winning their first and most recent PSAC contest versus Kutztown University, 16-11. West Chester (2-2, 0-1 PSAC) just lost in a tough battle with Bloomsburg University on 3/21, falling 6-7 at home.
You can watch the Lakers take on ESU Friday afternoon at 3p.m. or Saturday at 12p.m. versus West Chester.
